I've just had an arguement with my mate as to what engines are used in the new MINI.?

I know MINI are now owned by BMW after their purchase from Rover but my mate seems to think that all new MINI's have BMW engines in them. Can someone please confirm that although they are owned by BMW, MINI are in fact their own company and as such make

Sound Studies and Sonic Theory

The following brief and not at all in-depth article raises some questions concerning a sonic theory in respect to ideological implications in sound design. First of all, it may be useful to ask the following question: Why would we need a theory of the sonic world, or more specifically: a sonic theory, in the fist place? To answer this question, let’s take a brief look into history: Around 1900, sound and especially noise were mostly by-products to live in a world of a growing number of designed sounds. I emphasize this because that has not been done so much in sound studies yet: Sound studies have focused a lot on sounds and soundscapes in reference to listening subjects, for instance how auditory cultures shape the self-images or identities of individuals and groups.

In other words, the cultural studies approach of sound studies gave us a lot of insights on what people do with sound ? In order to be able to give answers to this question, we cannot merely focus on how listeners perceive and judge sounds but also have to pay attention to the unconscious effects that sounds impose on listeners.

In a lecture given at the symposium Auditive Medienkulturen (auditory media cultures), Jan-Philip Müller has recently shown an important historical rupture in the practices of designing the soundtrack of Hollywood motion pictures after 1970: the aim of a sound design from the 1950s.
